On our trip to NYC last week for the Regis and Kelly show, we (plus Christina’s two friends Lauren and Kaitlyn) dined at Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill. The Mesa Grill also has locations in NYC, Las Vegas, and Bahamas. This is our second visit to Mesa Grill (our first was last year after the Rachael Ray show). We were blown away by Mesa grill during out first visit. Not only was the staff friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu, but the food was outstanding. We enjoyed some delicious dishes that we then went home and recreated so we could enjoy them more often since we don’t get to go to Mesa Grill everyday. For some reason our visit this time was a bit different than the first. Our waitress was not super friendly (she wasn’t rude by any means but she just was not friendly). The food was delicous but it did not blow us out of the water. Perhaps it was because it was restaurant week and we were limited to what we could order (last time we ordered a variety of the side dishes). Additionally, the prices are a bit expensive. Don’t get us wrong, this restaurant is great- the atmosphere is nice and the food is great. We would definitely recommend visiting if you are in NYC. They are also known for their unique drinks. We were not very adventourous and stayed with sparkling wine and red wine….still delicious though (especially the sparking wine!)!!
The bread basket that was brought to the table included typical rolls along with unique corn and jalapeno rolls. The jalapeno gave the rolls a spicy kick to them.
Sophie’s Chopped Salad: chickpeas, cubed vermont cheddar cheese, red kidney beans with homemade dressing and crispy tortillas.
The first time we visited Mesa Grill we ordered Sophie’s Chopped Salad as well. The picture does not really do this dish much justice. Bobby Flay named this salad for his daughter Sophie. I assume that Sophie is a big fan of this salad. This salad quickly became a favorite of ours as well and we have recreated this at home. The kidney beans and chickpeas add a nice healthy touch to the salad.
Smoked Shrimp Cake: with grilled pineapple relish and poblano vinaigrette
Cornmeal Crusted Chile Relleno: filled with roasted eggplant, manchego cheese with sweet red pepper sauce and balsamic vinegar
Grilled Red Snapper: with tomato-red chile sauce, capers, olives, charred jalapenos, basil, and crispy squash blossom
16 spice Chicken: with crushed red cherry Cascabel sauce and goat cheese smashed potatoes
Summer Peach and Berry Bread Pudding with raspberry salad
Chocolate Strawberry Shortcake with chocolate chip marscapone whipped cream

Mmm grilled red snapper – sold! Again, another amazing-looking dining experience. Why don’t I live in New York?!
Love the white/orange/pink dress by the way – tres cute!
I went to Bobby Flay’s restaurant when we went to NYC, but we went to Bar Americain for brunch. It was seriously the best meal I have ever had! I have also been to the Mesa Grill in the Bahamas and that was good as well.
