Stamp Out Hunger

One of our closest friends, Lauren, who works for Thomas/Boyds Communications, is working with the Food Bank of South Jersey to promote a food donation campaign in South Jersey.

This event takes place on Saturday, May 14, 2011 and it is so simple to participate.  All you have to do is fill up a bag or two of shelf-stable, non-perishable food and place the bags next to your mailbox.  The rest of the work is done for you.  Your bag(s) will be picked up and donated to the Food Bank.

If you are a resident of South Jersey, please consider participating.  Hunger is not just an issue in remote areas of the U.S. or developing countries around the world.  Hunger persists right here in your own backyard.  In South Jersey alone, 100,000 people seek emergency food assistance every year.

Do your part in helping to eliminate hunger in our community by participating in Stamp Out Hunger, the nation’s largest single-day food donation campaign, sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC).

The Food Bank of South Jersey’s goal is to distribute 12 million pounds of food, so they are going to need our help!  Please consider participating and spreading the word so we can help the Food Bank reach their goal.

I need to put this on my calendar because I would love to contribute! One of the clubs that I am in at school does a big event every year that benefits the food bank of SJ. It’s such a good cause and it’s so easy to help them out.
