INSANITY.

How has your week been?   Sorry that we have not been very regular with updating our blog these days… Mary has been busy with work and I have been busy with PA school and therefore the blog has been put on the back burner a bit!  PA school is going well so far.  I met a few really cool people and did well on my first exams this week…so that was a relief.  They told us that the summer is “easy” compared to what is to come.  I won’t lie,  all of this is a bit nerve-recking and intimidates me a bit. But I know if I put my mind to it and work my butt off, I can do it.  It’s going to be tough to balance the stress of school with personal life, having fun, updating the blog, training, etc. but that is life.  Everyone has to deal with this type of stuff.  I guess it just stinks because I went from a stress-free senior year, having fun with my friends, to real life in a matter of a week. Oh well. Gotta move on in life at some point, eh?

Anyway…my friend from PA school (kelly) and I recently purchased a new workout DVD called Insanity.  This DVD is made by the company that makes P90x and although I never did P90X, they say it is harder…although shorter in duration.  Insanity is a 60-day workout program (although I am not following the 60 day thing…I am just doing Insanity whenever I feel like doing it!) The DVD set comes with 10 Insanity Workout DVDs:

1: Dig Deeper & Fit Test: To start, Shaun T will put your body to the test and see what you’re made of.

2: Plyometric Cardio Circuit: Burn fat with intervals of intense lower-body plyo and sweat-inducing cardio.

3: Cardio Power & Resistance: Build lean muscle and upper-body definition with strength-training and insanity workout power moves.

4: Cardio Recovery: Shaun T goes easier on you once a week so you’re ready for the next Insanity Workout round.

5: Pure Cardio & Abs: Skip the intervals-this nonstop cardio workout is all extreme.

6: Cardio Abs: Do explosive intervals of cardio and core moves for rock-hard abs.

7: Core Cardio & Balance: Take a break after month 1 of the Insanity workout and gear up for month 2 with this workout.

8: Max Interval Circuit: The interval circuit that’s more intense than anything you’ve ever done before.

9: Max Interval Plyo: Push your legs ’til they beg for mercy with power and plyo, all at your MAX.

10: Max Cardio Conditioning & Abs: Get pushed to your limit with this extreme cardio workout

So far I have do the plyo cardio circuit and Pure Cardio & Abs…. I wont lie…this DVD is HARD.  Definitely the hardest workout DVD I have ever done.  I even cursed at Shawn a couple of times during the workout! hahah I am pathetic.  It was a good workout though and I am glad I bought it!  Mary has yet to try it…I am interested to see what she thinks about it. Have you ever done Insanity of P90X?

Although I do not have a new recipe to share with you…last week Mary and I made Portabella Burgers with Red Pepper Paste for dinner.  This is an old recipe, but a great one. and I thought I would show you the recipe again because a lot of the recipes just get lost amongst the archive of recipes!  This is a delicious, healthy meal to make in the summer.  Try it out this weekend!

What are your plans for the weekend?

I do Insanity every couple days with my triathlon training and I love it! It is really hard but so fun. I have noticed it really helping with my running and biking too

I’ve done Insanity and running is the only other thing that makes me sweat as much. It is hard! I’m so glad that I’m not the only one who curses Shaun T. Hahaha. Good luck with PA school!

Hey ladies! I’m glad you were finally able to try this. I fell in love with Shawn from his Hip Hop Abs workout. I got it in hopes of better abs AND better dance moves! Although, I’m not so sure my dancing skills had any improvement. We’ll have to trade up in the future …But watch out for T-Rex arms! haha. Sounds like you’re settling in, can’t wait to see you and the new place!

I LOVE Insanity! My fiancee and I started doing it at the beginning of May and it has been kicking my butt! We do it 3-4x/week so I can teach spinning & run the other days so it’s taking us twice as long to get through the 60 days. We start the second month of workouts next week and I’m a little nervous! I’ve blogged about it a couple times too….good luck!
