A couple of years ago I discovered my love for the Italian dessert, Tiramisu. Ever since I first had it, I have been wanting to try to recreate it at home and last week I finally got around to making Tiramisu for the first time!
I would say my first attempt at Tiramisu was a success. However, I am definitely looking for suggestions to improve this recipe to make it the best tiramisu ever. Last week, Natascia posted about how she is great at making two things…risotto and tiramisu. In this post, she shared her recipe for risotto…which looks amazing by the way! Natascia is straight from Italy, so I trust her when she says one of her specialities is Tiramisu. She even said that she would write a post about her Tiramisu sometime next week…so keep your eyes peeled!!!! I know I will be recreating her speciality sometime very soon.
Through searching on the internet, I came across this recipe for Tiramisu…I thought that it looked like a great recipe so I decided to give it a try.
I was making dinner for 7 people, so I decided to use 7 minature trifle dishes to serve the tiramisu in…because who doesn’t like getting their own pretty serving of dessert? I had leftovers, so I used the rest to fill a medium-sized pyrex glass container.
Tiramisu
Ingredients
- 500 grams Mascarpone
- 6 Eggs
- 6 Tbls. Sugar
- 250 grams Lady Fingers (use a brand that does not have a mile long ingredient list)
- 4-5 shots of Espresso
- Unsweetened Cocoa
Directions
- Use two large bowls. In the first, mix together yolks and sugar. Use the second to beat the egg whites until stiff. Then fold mascarpone and egg whites to the first bowl, mixing slowly until creamy.
- Put the espresso into a bowl and dip quickly dip the ladyfingers.
- Line the ladyfingers in a glass container and cover them with the cream mixture. Repeat until the container is full. Sprinkle everything with unsweetened cocoa and place in fridge for 3 or more hours before serving.

This recipe is so close to my recipe…great find;)) I love the idea of using those adorable miniature trifle dishes, very professional! Very stunning looking too to present, yours look definitely better than the one served at a restaurant! Well done! Brava!!
I’m a huge tiramisu fan. I’m always too nervous to make my own so I inevitably end up having to convince Peter to split some when we go out to a nice Italian dinner. LOL
