Mercato is a small, quaint italian restaurant in Philadelphia. It is a great restaurant to visit during the warm months; you can sit outside or inside where they keep the huge windows…the fresh air feels so nice! The menu is not very long but the food was very tasty! The dishes were all unique…definitely not your every-day italian dishes.
We started off with the Market Salad: strawberries & bibb lettuce, caramelized red onion, goat cheese, hazelnuts, butter croutons, white balsamic vinaigrette…. it was pretty good….definitely have had better, though. the salad lacked a bit of flavor…perhaps it was the dressing that was lacking? Not to say that this salad was bad, though..
Mary and I each got the same thing for dinner…Pappardelle with roasted mushrooms, caramelized cipollini, crispy parsnip & arugula, sage brown butter….. this was absolutely AMAZING. We both licked our plates clean. This dish was full of flavor. Loved it.
